Big Changes in Stroud

Post by sens1910 » Wed Mar 30, 2016 2:03 pm

This has been an offseason to remember for the Stroud Outlaws. Not only did they make some huge trades, but it has been one of their strongest drafts to date and free agent signings to date.
To start they made a blockbuster deal with the North Bay Devil Dogs to acquire highly touted, young superstar Alexander Crosby along with a couple depth veterans in Jovany Meeking and Skylar Van Drunen. The next big move was trading the team favourite and captain in Matthew Moffat for Saskatoon's team favourite and S26 top scorer Cullen McCahill. Stroud has finally filled that RW position they have wanted for a while, especially with the uncertainty that had surrounded second favourite in Joel Gladney. With the outstanding performance last season by Oscar Corbeau, the top line for Stroud has been set: Corbeau-Crosby-McCahill. Wow! There's no words to describe the feeling that these fans must be having right now looking at this line. When asked, GM Connor Hughes had this to say, "I like the look of this line. It's got the right amount of veteran presence and the right amount of youth and skill. I think they could be the best line since the Sipotz and Charron days of the Stroud Lions." To add to this line they have got the outstanding defence of superstar Arthur Charbonneau and upcomer Dany Witt. This is a dangerous looking line on paper but we'll have to see what they can do together come preseason.
Today Stroud announced the signing of ex-Outlaw Conner Turnbull to once again fill the third line centre void. On top of that they gave the fans a breathe of relief as they announced the huge contract signing of Joel Gladney. Gladney is extremely excited to be returning to Stroud, especially with the recent moves made and had nothing but appreciation for the Outlaws' GM. "He's a great player. He has been the most consistently good player we've had on our team in a long time and we're so happy that he has decided to return. I think him and Turnbull can quickly return to the magical duo they were for the few seasons they played together. This is a big day for Outlaws management, players, and fans." - GM Connor Hughes on Joel Gladney returning to town.
On top of these acquisitions and signings, Stroud is extremely happy to show everyone the strong draft they had this season. "Every player we got was on our radar. We are thrilled about getting the opportunity to draft Nicholson with our 10th overall pick. He's a young, big guy and will be a force for us in the future." -Stroud GM. Below is a list of draft picks by Stroud this season.

LW Gauthier Nicholson - 10th overall - 18y/o 21g 19a 40pts

RW Roger Tavares - 31st overall - 20y/o 27g 24a 51pts

RW Marc-Edouard Cottringer - 50th overall - 20y/o 14g 42a 56pts

D Landen Gillen - 70th overall - 20y/o 6g 32a 38pts

RW Hilliard Butcher - 90th overall - 20y/o 29g 18a 47pts

and with the extra 3rd round pick:

C Orlando Tanev - 20y/o 22g 22a 44pts

Tickets are now on sale for Season 28 and are selling out fast. Season's tickets are still available as well. GM Connor Hughes has been hyping this newly built team up all offseason and is urging the fans to get excited. Not only is everyone buzzing around the Pro team but also the Farm team as they are looking the best they have since Stroud has come into the league. Let's hope his teams are not just good on the paper and will provide some solid hockey this season. This will remain to be seen.
