Pesky Outlaws...

Post by sens1910 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 4:21 pm

The Stroud Outlaws are fighting for survival in what has been the closest season in their conference yet. Just a mere two points separates them, Quebec, and Vancouver, where two of the three teams will head into the playoffs and one will fall back. After a mediocre week going just 1-1-1 in the three crucial games, coach Nanne will be looking for more from his team this week. After a huge 6-3 win over the defending champs in North Bay, there seems to be some light heading into what could be the most important game of their season, yet, playing the Quebec Nordiques on Monday. Despite their inexperience and youth, Stroud has been one of the more shocking teams this season, collecting wins over some the top teams in the league and just never giving up. Lately it has been the heroics of rookie Matthew Moffat, who has an impressive 21 goals and 34 points in 42 games so far, leading the rookie pool. The goaltending has been up and down all season, but since acquiring Lamar Dopson from Pembroke and the surprise signing of Sam Zabransky, their goaltending has been consistently solid, with Zabransky carrying the way as of lately. But back to the rookies, Stroud has one the youngest teams not to mention most rookies in the league, other than Vancouver. Having had seven different rookies play atleast a game and five of them now sustaining their spot on the roster. Micah Colley, Matthew Moffat, Liam Latreille, Charlie Heiskala, and recently Jorge Horacek have all secured their spots on the team and have been playing exceptionally well for the lack of experience. Pranav Schwartz is also playing in his first pro season and has been a great addition to the team. The GM has compared his team with that of the Ottawa Senators from the NHL, saying that his team just will not go away without a fight. Having no expectations this season, Stroud has come out of no where after a terrible start to the season and has started to surprise teams will their level of skill and play. It will be interesting to see the finish of this season, with the teams all laying everything on the line.
Enjoy the rest of the regular season and good luck to all!
